Gettin' funky with Charles Neville...

Last night the Jazz Ambassadors got a chance to play with one of the true masters of jazz and funk:  Mr. Charles Neville of the original Nevile Brothers from New Olreans.

In so many ways, it was heavenly:  my mates were playing at the top of their game, the crowd at Mission Bar and Tapas was totally into the groove AND Mr. Neville was funky in all the right ways.  As one of my friends from church told me this morning:  there was some SWEET jazz happening last night.  He had us playing "Take 5" in 4 - totally from the swamp - and "Take the A Train" was sultry and something crazy cool.  What a treat for everyone involved.

(A HUGE special thanks to the brilliant Leo Mazzeo for these hot pix!)
