God bless you, Paul Simon!

Tonight our local PBS station showed a program honoring one of my heroes: Paul Simon. I wept and cheered,"went to church" and boogied in New Orleans as the breadth and depth of his music washed over me. What a treat and what a blessing. Brother Simon continues to celebrate the best of my generation's hopes and dreams by bringing together the races and the cultures and the classes in a way that points out what is best and combats what is broken. To see Paul shake his ass with Ladysmith Black Mambazo - to see Lyle Lovett share with Buckwheat Zydeco - and to watch Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon and the Dixie Hummingbirds rock the house with "Love me Like a Rock" was an answer to prayer in these crazy, divided, hope filled and frustrating times. God bless you, Paul Simon.
