What a difference a reasonably priced pick-up makes on my upright bass! Wow! Why did I wait three years to make it happen?!? Well, now it is set up right and ready for next Friday's house concert. My hope is that we can hold it on our deck: the acoustics are great, it will be cool and visuals calming. If there is bad weather, however, I have scoured the basement and set up a performance hall down stairs: cool, clean, dehumidified and dry. It will be like the early Beatles playing in Pete Best's momma's club The Casbah. Mona opened it to give young rockers a safe place to play in the early 60s. We're OLD rockers, but we need a safe place, too!
This will be a fun gig: young and old and in-between - friends from the old days as well as colleagues and neighbors from the past eleven years. What's more, we'll have a chance to play the more introspective songs that require a "listening" room. My hope is that we'll have a chance to chat a bit about some of these songs, too. Not quite a salon, to be sure, but an intimate sharing of friends making new music for friends. If you are in the area next Friday night between 7-9 pm and would like to join us, please drop me a note. We have a few more seats - and if the weather is lovely there won't be a finer place to be in the Berkshires.
