We arrived home late this afternoon after two sweet weeks away. During that time we shared parts of the Montreal Jazz Festival with one of our daughters and her sweet, sweet husband - and that was heaven. We then spent another five days in Montreal before heading to Ottawa and eventually wound our way to Di's humble family cottage on the banks of Lake Ontario. That was a time of quiet retreat filled with lots of sleep as well as biking, walking, reading and playing in the water. Here's the view that greeted us on Lake Ontario...
I've been reading a LOT about the future of jazz - how so much of the US jazz realm is looking to the past rather than the creative future - and Di and I have been doing some thinking/work re: new jazz projects for the next few years. But those reflections will have to wait for a bit as the rest of this day must be given over to cooking dinner and chill time. But here's a taste...
