"One of the reasons I believe in jazz,” Dave Brubeck once said, “is that the oneness of man can come through the rhythm of your heart. It’s the same anyplace in the world, that heartbeat. It’s the first thing you hear when you’re born — or before you’re born — and it’s the last thing you hear.” Amen to that, brother - and now you have returned to the great beat beyond this realm where you'll be swingin' with the saints in glory. A few years ago he was the headliner at the Pittsfield Jazz Festival where he shared his gift - and his encouragement - with players young and old.
I love this cat's music - and spirit - and cherish what he shared with the world. Check out his obit in the Times @ http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/06/arts/music/dave-brubeck-jazz-musician-dies-at-91.html?pagewanted=all) Rest in peace, my man: you've blessed us all!
